Sanctuary by Richard Burchett. After the Lancastrian army had been defeated at the battle of Tewkesbury, 4th May 1471, the Duke of Somerset and a number of his fellow Lancastrians attempted to hide in Tewkesbury Abbey, but were dragged out by Edward IV and the Yorkist soldiers, tried and beheaded. |
