Clipped Signature - George Jameson. Born in 1892, he joined the Northumberland Hussars Imperial Yeomanry, in 1910, part of the British Expeditionary Force in 1914. Fought at Ypres in 1914 and Neuve Chapelle and Loos in 1915. He trained as a gunner and joined the Royal Field Artillery, fighting at the Somme in 1916 and at Vimy Ridge. He then went to Italy where he was awarded the Military Cross before returning to France until the end of the war. He died in 1999 aged 106. Please note that this particular signature has been written in pen - not in pencil like most of our signatures. |
