Clipped Signature - Raymond Baxter. Flew as a Spitfire pilot with No.602 Sqn from 1940, but is best known as a television personality - he was the first host of Tomorrow's World on the BBC from 1965. He took part in the Monte Carlo Rally on several occasions, and frequently commentated on motorsport and aviation events. He died in 2006.

Clipped Signature - George Unwin. Joining the RAF in 1929, he was one of the first to fly the Spitfire, flying with No.19 Sqn through the Battles of France and Britain. He later flew the Mosquito with No.16 Sqn. He was credited with 13 victories. He died in 2006.

Clipped Signature - Karl-Heinz Wiesner. Joined the Luftwaffe in 1941 and flew captured French aircraft including the Saiman 202 and Cuadron 445. He flew Mistel combinations, and later Fw190 fighter bombers. He served with SG200, KG30, and KG(j)30. Clipped Signature - Derek Lovell. Joining in 1941, he became an instructor on several aircraft types before joining No.197 Sqn flying Typhoons on operations in support of D-Day and the Normandy campaign. He flew a total of 135 sorties by the end of the war, then spent a year instructing on Typhoons and Tempests.

Clipped Signature - Norman Samuels. A Typhoon pilot with No.193 Sqn, he spent some time on Spitfires with No.610 Sqn before returning to Typhoons. He was shot down in March 1945, evaded capture for some time before being taken prisoner for the last few weeks of the war.

Clipped Signature - Geoffrey Page. Briefly flew Spitfires with No.66 Sqn before joining No.56 Sqn flying Hurricanes in the Battle of France, then the Battle of Britain until he was shot down on 12th August 1940, baling out of his fiery aircraft but suffering severe injuries and burns. He returned to action 2 years later, and by the end of the war had claimed 10 victories plus 5 shared. He died in 2000.

Clipped Signature - James Stockdale. Flew the A-4 Skyhawk in Vietnam, leading Carrier Air Wing 16 aboard USS Oriskany. He was forced to eject over enemy territory after his wingman's ordnance malfunctioned and hit him. He was the most senior officer taken prisoner in the war. He died in 2005, and USS Stockdale was subsequently named for him.

Clipped Signature - Sid Harwell. A C-47 Dakota pilot who had more combat experience than most C-47 pilots, and participated in the Airborne assault during D-day.

Clipped Signature - Alexander Gray. A private in the Highland Light Infantry in World War One, he moved to the Royal Flying Corps and commanded No.55 Sqn in 1917, then commaned No.12 Sqn RAF after the war. Holding this position until May 1926, he took up senior roles in the RAF and Air Ministry, retiring in 1949. He died in 1980. Clipped Signature - Karl Rubmeyer. Joined the Luftwaffe in 1940 flying the He111, Ju86, Ju88, captured French Saiman 202, Caudron 405, and the Mistel combination. He served with KG30 and KG200 where he flew the Mistel. He attained the rank of Feldwebel and received the Iron Cross Class 2. Clipped Signature - Bob Goebel. Flew Spitfires then Mustangs with the 31st Fighter Group based in Italy, flying a total of 62 combat missions and being credited with 11 air victories. He died in 2011.

Clipped Signature - Joe Warburton. A pilot with No.57 and No.617 Sqn on Lancasters, he took part in a raid on the Tirpitz. Please note that this particular signature has been written in pen - not in pencil like most of our signatures.

Clipped Signature - Denys Gillam Battle of Britain Ace who served with 616 and 312 Squadrons. He scored a total of 7 victories, including one of the fastest ever, where he downed a Ju-88 which was making a bombing run, as he took off from the airfield. He took command of the Typhoon Wing at Duxford in March 1942, which flew their first combat operation in June 1942. He died in 1991.

Clipped Signature - Arthur Fiedler. Flew P-47 Thunderbolts with the 317th Fighter Squadron in Italy from 1944, then the P-51 Mustang. The Ace scored a total of 8 victories in 66 missions. Recalled for the Korean War he remained with the USAF, retiring in 1975 having flown 247 C-130 missions in Vietnam. He died in 2016.

Clipped Signature - Heinz Lange. A Luftwaffe fighter pilot from the beginning of WW2 to the end. Flew with JG21, JG54 and JG51, scoring 70 victories in more than 600 missions. He died in 2006.

Clipped Signature - Gabby Gabreski. The top scoring 8th Air Force fighter Ace in Europe with 28.5 victories, plus an additional 6.5 victories in the Korean War. Initially flying with RAF No.315 (Polish) Sqn, he then flew the P-47 Thunderbolt with the US 56th Fighter Group. In July 1944, he crash landed in Germany after clipping the ground and was taken prisoner for the remainder of the war. In Korea, he scored his victories in the F-86 Sabre and remained in aviation after retirement from the Air Force in 1967. He died in 2002.

Clipped Signature - Sir Alan Boxer. A New Zealander who flew with No.161 Sqn and No.138 Sqn during WW2, he flew B29s with the USAF in Korea before becoming Station Commander at RAF Wittering - home of the UK's V-Bomber fleet. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and Distinguished Service Order. He died in 1998. Clipped Signature - Leonard Rochford. Flew Sopwith Pups and Sopwith Camels in the First World War with No.3 Naval Squadron which became No.203 Sqn RAF in 1918. He is credited with a total of 29 aerial victories. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and Distinguished Service Cross with Bar. He died in 1986. Clipped Signature - Hajo Hermann. A bomber pilot who sunk 12 ships and also scored 9 victories as a fighter pilot - he was awarded the Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords. He died in 2010.

Clipped Signature - Frank D Hurlbut. Flew P-38 Lightnings with the 96th Fighter Squadron in Europe and became an Ace by July 1943. Credited with 9 victories in over 50 missions, he was the 2nd highest scoring Ace in the 12th Air Force. He died c.2017.

Clipped Signature - Arthur Leigh. Flew Spitfires with 64 and 72 Squadrons during the Battle of Britain then transferred to No.611 Sqn. He later flew a tour on Typhoons and was awarded the DFC and DFM. He died in 2004.
