Squadron Leader John D Haskins
Flew on Bomber Command shipping searches in November and December 1939 as Flying Officer J Haskins, Hampden pilot, No.49 Squadron, RAF Scampton. On 6th September 1940 his Hampden P4350 failed to return from an operation, and ditched in the English Channel off Calais. He was taken prisoner along with the three other crew. He died aged 93 on 21st March 2011.

Clipped Signature - John Haskins. A pilot on Hampdens with No.49 Sqn, he took part in shipping searches in November and December 1939. On 6th September 1940 his Hampden was forced to ditch in the English Channel off Calais and all four crew were taken prisoner. He died in 2011. Please note that this particular signature has been written in pen - not in pencil like most of our signatures. |
