Attack on the Eagle Springs Run by Clyde Heron.  On December 5, 1867, Mescaleros attacked a stage eastbound from El Paso, killed Private Nathan Johnson, an escort from the 9th Cavalry, and wounded four horses. The Apaches did not give up the chase until the stage came within sight of Eagle Springs Station, where they were met by troops of Company F.
